Scenes from Spring

So, I've been pretty busy lately and haven't written much here, my apologies! I'm hoping to update this blog with a few things that I've been doing very soon. I'd also like to ask that if any readers have anything they'd like to read a post about, do let me know in the comments! I know that a lot of JETs are finding out about their acceptance and placements around this time, and of course I'm happy to share my thoughts about any questions you may have - but as usual, I like talking about non-JET things too. :)

In the meantime, I'd love to share some photos from my springtime adventures. My mum visited Japan for the third time! We took a week to travel around some of our favourite places together, and to check out some new places, too. I had a wonderful time travelling with her as usual, and it was only made better by the beautiful spring cherry blossoms. I hope you enjoy these snapshots of our trip!

Hiroshima river, lined by sakura.
Hanami parties.
Night sakura.
The sakura along the riverbank in Hiroshima are beautiful.

We visited Shukkein Garden in Hiroshima. It was beautiful!

So peaceful.

There were lovely sakura there, too.

Finally, we also saw Hiroshima Castle!

We  visited Noritake Garden in Nagoya, where they make fine china.

Children's Day was coming up, so these koinobori (carp banners) were flying in many places.

I saw Nagoya Castle for the first time.

The last stop of our week-long trip was Yokohama, one of my favourite cities in Japan.

Once we returned to Utsunomiya, we went to see night sakura at Hachimanyama park.

I hope you enjoyed my spring vacation photos! If you're considering visiting Japan, spring is one of the best times to come. If you have any questions about the places I visited, leave a comment below!

  1. I want to visit Yokohama next time, do you think it's worth taking a day trip from Tokyo? There was a hello kitty cafe there I think but afaik it closed down. But still, I have never visited any of the areas near Tokyo and since this will be my 4th time visiting it's probably time to explore more.

    1. Thanks so much for commenting! I think Yokohama is absolutely worth a day trip! It's so easy to get to from Tokyo (only 40 minutes on local trains, or about 20 minutes by bullet train). I'm not sure about the Hello Kitty cafe, but there are some lovely places to eat and shop there, and it's a really picturesque place just to wander around. If you like Chinese food, there's a great Chinatown there which I loved eating at. When will you be visiting Japan next?
